Moving to India!!

I'm moving to India!
In January God called me to India, and during our trip to India, I felt God confirmed the call. Last week, I felt God say to me "Now go!"

In the story of Moses and the burning bush, some words lit up like crazy. "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say." (Ex. 4:11-12) It was as if God were speaking directly to me. I feel like God wants me not to delay anymore but to start working toward moving to India. I am not to worry about whether I am the "ideal" one for the job, because my Creator is the one calling me. Other verses lit up as well, like Jesus sending out the disciples, and "Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." (Mt. 10:39) How exciting!! And scary at the same time!!! On a more comforting note, Matthew 10:26-31 and Exodus 33:14 lit up as well - God is going with me and will supply what I need, and I do not need to be afraid.
So I get to move to India!!! Yipeeeeeee!!! (and scary!!)
Basic Info
My current job is to run the design department and the book/publishing department, and I manage all the languages. I'll be doing the same from India.
Dwight, Kristi, Mom and Dad are completely on board and are excited for me. We are also very grateful for Skype, so I'll be able to call my Momma, and I can keep giving Dwight raspberries! ;)

Basic Info
I'll be doing the same job, same ministry, with the same people, in a different location.- I can experiment with ways to distribute our material in India.
- I'll be able to work closer with our staff in India, and I'll be available to manage more people if we see the need for expansion.
- I'll need more funds - in Mexico I'm living with people; in India I'll pay my own rent, etc.
- Let's aim for May 2016, trusting God "who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us," (Eph. 3:20) and in obedience to Him who says not to delay.

How Catapultanian Came Home
I'd been living here in Mexico a week when Catapultanian (Cat for short) decided to go on one of his usual outdoor exploratory expeditions. But even the little Livingston doesn't leave for more than three days so I began to worry after four days. One night I prayed that God would bring him back. In fact, in my sorrowful and worrisome state that night I cried to God. Then I felt like God told me, "You're not crying because you're pleading with me to bring Cat home. You're crying because you don't think I can bring Cat home, as if you've forgotten who I am and what I can do." Then He reminded me of the story of how the Ark of the Covenant came back from the Philistines to the Israelites. The Philistines put the Ark on a cart and hitched it to two cows that had just borne calves. With no human guidance the cows bore a strange cart down an unknown road to a foreign land and stopped as soon as they crossed the border. They waited there until the Israelites came and recovered the Ark and sacrificed the cart and the cows. (1 Samuel 6) "I not only can guide animals, I already have," He reminded me. (Later I remembered the other Ark and the animals coming in pairs) The following night I began to write an update and wrote about Cat and how God told me He could bring Cat home. That night I woke up in the middle of the night. I knew where Siren and Eeyore were, so who was that cat on the chair in the corner? Flipping on the light I saw Cat sitting in the chair squinting up at me. Yay! God brought Cat home for me! Sometimes our great and powerful God takes notice of our "petty" concerns.
P.S. Our dog Fifi went missing for a couple days, too, but came home the day after Cat's return. That night Dwight and Kristi had a lovely reunion with Fifi while I got a nice Cat cuddle. We've found that pets are a great help and comfort to us. Naturally today my little explorer has gone on another expedition, but I know he knows this is home.

Leaving for Mexico!!!
I'm leaving for Mexico in 2 days! No, less than 2 days! I've been to Mexico so many times that it's not a big deal to go on a trip - but this is not a trip. I'm moving. Permanently. (Lord willing) Next step: to see what adventures await!

Woot! Let's do this!
Phew, I've finished school! It was pretty weird the other day when Mom told me she wouldn't be nudging me to do my homework anymore. Wait a minute, what?? Totally didn't expect it, but there it is. I'll miss it. ;)
The next big goal is to move to Mexico asap! Over the next few weeks to couple months I'll be visiting with my dear friends and new acquaintances, forming not just financial partnerships in ministry but lasting friendships that will continue into eternity. I'm totally stoked to hear what God's doing in people's lives and to share what God's doing in my life. I'd love to share such a conversation with you, too, midweek or weekend. God will provide... jobs
Last spring I knew I would move to Mexico, but I didn't know exactly when and was considering the possibility of moving even a year or two after graduating. Seeming logical to keep several options open, I put in some time and effort working on my resume and brought it to a job fair to get new connections. Over the summer while I was on my annual trip to Mexico, God basically told me that He wanted me to move to Mexico right after graduating and not wait. I gave up the idea of getting a cool job in Computer Science, the field I'm studying at Portland State, and had every intention of keeping my job at McDonald's. (I worked there for 4 years because they worked around school, church, and Mexico trips. I didn't think any other job would have.)
While I was still in Mexico one of my instructors from that winter term sent me an email offering me a job at school as a research assistant. It payed better than flipping burgers, and it ended sometime around winter 2013, right when I was planning to move to Mexico! I couldn't believe it! Between my return to the States and the interview for the new position at school, John Lee called me asking if I would work on the website for Branches Church. After the initial changes and setup, I'd work up to 10 hours a month and I could take the job with me to Mexico. Haha! So I had two interviews in one day, and I got both jobs. Then a few weeks later I was simply working in the office when the same instructor came and proposed an idea. Her TA (teaching assistant) that she had lined up was stuck in China for all of the fall term and she needed a replacement TA. Since she was also the one supervising my boss, a graduate student working on his PhD, the arrangement worked out quite well with half of the part-time work as a research assistant and the other half as a TA.
The craziest part of the whole thing is that neither parties asked for my resume. I had spent all that time working on it, but when I gave my career to God, He dumped three jobs in my lap that fit exactly perfectly with my plans to move to Mexico after graduating. I'm a TA again this term, and that job by definition ends at the end of the term. The research position is scheduled to end right when I graduate as well. The work on my church's website will continue but I can work on that part-part-part time from Mexico.
God has provided.

Blog name change
I've changed the name of this blog. Before it was trip2mexico.blogspot.com. But this year I'm planning to move to Mexico permanently, so trip2mexico no longer applies. Woot! This blog is now sukiministries.blogspot.com because I'm working with Net Works Ministries "doing business as" Suki Ministries, with tax deductions on all donations and everything. It's official.
That leads me to this little update. I'm graduating with a bachelor's in Computer Science toward the end of March. After graduating I'm planning to move to Mexico to work with Dwight and Kristi long-term. I'm pretty exited about moving, but first I have to survive this term! I'm working 3 jobs (sounds worse than it is) and going to school full time (sounds exactly like it is) and prepping to move to Mexico. Teehee! And I thought last term with just the 3 jobs and full-time school was hard. But God will get me through it and I know He's the one who wants me to move to Mexico right after graduating. After all, He's the one who gave my my current jobs that work perfectly for such a plan.
